Acupuncture for Neck Pain in San Diego

Acupuncture is an effective natural remedy for neck pain, scientific studies reveal.

One of the most common problems faced by students and office workers alike is neck pain. If you are spending several hours per day sitting at a desk or commuting in the San Diego traffic, you are likely suffering from neck pain. Also, if you’ve ever had a sports injury, whiplash incident, or if you sleep on a bad bed mattress or use a bad pillow, you probably have neck pain. The good news is that many people get relief when seeking acupuncture in San Diego -- even when nothing else seems to work! Clinical trials conducted by scientists and clinicians over the past three decades repeatedly confirm that acupuncture is safe and effective for neck pain.

A recent study published in the British Medical Journal is 2013 at Kyunghee University Medical Center is Seoul, Korea demonstrated that acupuncture performed three times weekly was just as effective as 80 mg of NSAID painkillers used every day for persistent neck pain.

In Complementary & Alternative Medicine, a meta-analysis of 17,922 patients also showed that acupuncture in San Diego was useful for relieving patients of back and neck pain, as
well as osteoarthritis and chronic headaches! The patients who received true acupuncture had remarkably better pain relief than patients who had only gotten “sham” or fake acupuncture. The patients who were in the worst pain at the beginning of the study had the most pain relief from acupuncture.

Another study published in the Australian Journal of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine tested whether hand acupressure was effective for chronic neck pain along the sides and back of the neck. Sixty neck pain sufferers participated in the study. Half of them were a “control” group and the other half was the treatment group. The patients who got the acupressure treatments had major relief from their neck pain over the 3-week period of treatment. The control group, which did not receive acupressure, had no relief.

A very large study with a total of 14,161 patients in Germany who had been suffering from neck pain for more than six months showed that acupuncture brought them significant long-term relief. The untreated control (non-acupuncture) group had no improvement in their pain. The neck pain patients were treated with acupuncture 15 times over three months. Six months after the study, they still reported neck pain relief.

The methodology of all of these studies varied considerably, but the acupuncture patients still experienced long-term relief. Try San Diego acupuncture for your neck pain, and you’ll feel the difference!
